I worked for Adult Education with Dom Pasrellie at Hill House Adult Education program in the 90’s !

Yes Dr. Edmonds was my Pastor at DUCC He was a life long Educator! Wanted Educators to look like the students they taught! Doc was part of the largest Teacher recruitment in the history of NHPS. Currently a NHPS employee. The late Dr. Edmonds was instrumental in bringing my parents to New Haven where my mother began teaching at Wilbur Cross HS as a biology teacher. He also continued to be active in my life and the greater New Haven community through educational efforts serving in the school board and as an educator at Southern CT University. His activism in the community,state and nation fighting for all marginalized people was evident in his actions and through his spirit as he lead the Dixwell Avenue Congregational Church for many years. He was a proponent of education and advocating for students.

Dr. Edwin Richardson Edmonds a a great part of New Haven’s community. He was the pastor of The Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ the oldest African American Congregational church in the known world for 35 years. He was the president of the New Haven Board of Education for 12 years. A professor of Sociology at Southern Connecticut and the Yale University Divinity School.
As an activist in the City of New Haven, the State. of Connecticut and the Nation, he fought for justice, human rights and civil rights for all.

During his time on New Haven’s Board of Education he and his colleagues began the change of the face of the school district to be inclusive all personal to work with our students.

It is indeed an horror to further the naming of the new Adult Educational Center The Adult Education Center.sincerely,
