Welcome Message from James Hillhouse High School

Dear Hillhouse Families, 

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! We are thrilled to open our doors once again and continue our unwavering commitment to excellence in educating each and every student who walks through Hillhouse High School. 

This year, we are focused on five key priorities that will guide our work and ensure student success: 

  1. Attendance Improvement – Every day counts. We will work closely with families to ensure students are present and engaged. 
  1. Academic Achievement – We are raising the bar and providing the support needed for all students to thrive. 
  1. Behavior and Discipline – Clear expectations and consistent support will help foster a respectful and safe learning environment. 
  1. School Culture and Climate – We are building a community where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired. 
  1. Family and Community Engagement – Your partnership is essential. We welcome your voice and involvement in our school. 

To support these priorities, we are implementing the following policies: 

  • Tardy to School & Tardy to Class: Students must arrive on time. Repeated tardiness will result in progressive interventions. 
  • Head Coverings Policy: Head coverings are not permitted unless for religious or medical reasons. 
  • Cell Phone Policy with Yondr Pouch Implementation: All students will be required to secure their phones in Yondr pouches during the school day to minimize distractions and promote learning. 

📅 Orientation Dates: 

  • Freshmen Orientation: August 20th, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM  
  • Returning & New Student Orientation: August 21st, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM 

We invite all families to attend and learn more about our expectations, meet staff, and prepare for a successful year.

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2025–2026! Estamos encantados de abrir nuestras puertas una vez más y continuar con nuestro firme compromiso con la excelencia en la educación de cada estudiante que entra a Hillhouse High School. 

Este año, nos enfocamos en cinco prioridades clave que guiarán nuestro trabajo y asegurarán el éxito estudiantil: 

  1. Mejora de la Asistencia – Cada día cuenta. Trabajaremos estrechamente con las familias para asegurar que los estudiantes estén presentes y comprometidos. 
  1. Mejora del Rendimiento Académico – Elevaremos el nivel y brindaremos el apoyo necesario para que todos los estudiantes prosperen. 
  1. Comportamiento y Disciplina – Expectativas claras y apoyo constante ayudarán a fomentar un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro y respetuoso. 
  1. Cultura y Clima Escolar – Estamos construyendo una comunidad donde cada estudiante se sienta valorado, apoyado e inspirado. 
  1. Participación Familiar y Comunitaria – Su colaboración es esencial. Valoramos su voz y participación en nuestra escuela. 

Para apoyar estas prioridades, implementaremos las siguientes políticas: 

  • Llegadas Tardías a la Escuela y a las Clases: Los estudiantes deben llegar a tiempo. Las tardanzas repetidas resultarán en intervenciones progresivas. 
  • Política de Coberturas para la Cabeza: No se permiten coberturas para la cabeza, excepto por razones religiosas o médicas. 
  • Política de Teléfonos Celulares con Implementación de Yondr Pouch: Todos los estudiantes deberán guardar sus teléfonos en fundas Yondr durante el día escolar para minimizar distracciones y promover el aprendizaje. 

📅 Fechas de Orientación: 

  • Orientación para Estudiantes de Primer Año: 20 de agosto, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM  
  • Orientación para Estudiantes Nuevos y que Regresan: 21 de agosto, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM 

Invitamos a todas las familias a asistir, conocer nuestras expectativas, conocer al personal y prepararse para un año exitoso.
